President Loh Commends Student Activism in Response to Ferguson Verdict

Dear University of Maryland community,

Last night, the decision by a Missouri grand jury not to indict Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting of Michael Brown, an unarmed teenager, set off protests across the nation.  On our campus, a group of students marched from the Stamp Student Union to the Main Administration Building.  Yesterday evening, students gathered at a town hall meeting at the Nyumburu Cultural Center.  I am proud to be associated with students who speak up for their beliefs. I join them in expressing my deepest sympathies for Michael’s grieving family.
