President's Five-Year Report and Reflections

UMD's Progress and Challenges (2010-15) and Strategic Priorities (2015-20)

Dear University of Maryland community,

As I begin my sixth year at this amazing land-grant and flagship University, it is a moment to step back and take a look at the big picture of the institution.

I would like to share with you my "President’s Five-Year Report and Reflections." It highlights the accomplishments of our talented and dedicated faculty, staff, students, administrators, alumni, and supporters that make the University's progress possible.

This report looks back at the successes and challenges of 2010-15 in the areas of academic excellence; student development; research and innovation; arts; strategic partnerships; internationalization, diversity and inclusion; intercollegiate athletics; campus administration, external relations; and "Greater College Park."

It also looks ahead to new opportunities and challenges for our University in 2015-20.

You can find the PDF here. I welcome your comments and suggestions at president@umd.edu.

During my rounds this semester visiting academic and administrative units, student organizations, staff meetings, and alumni gatherings, I encourage conversation on the topics covered in this "report and reflections."

On a personal note, in this moment of retrospection, Barbara and I would like to say how blessed we are to be members of this wonderful University community. We are honored to serve this great institution with dignity and pride.

Thank you for your contributions to, and passion for, the University of Maryland.

Best wishes for the lunar New Year!

Sincerely,

Wallace D. Loh
President
