In the coming weeks, we will cross the one-year threshold since the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated remote instruction for the vast majority of our courses and telework for most of our operations. I want to thank all of you for your resilience and resolve during this challenging time.

University of Maryland Receives its Highest Ranking in Research and Development Survey

The University of Maryland achieved its highest ranking ever in the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Higher Education Research and Development (HERD) survey. For the first time, the University of Maryland, College Park and the University of Maryland, Baltimore were linked together as one research enterprise in the ranking, with combined research expenditures of $1.1 billion. This expanded research effort earned us a ranking of No. 14 overall and No. 8 among public institutions.

A New Partnership with the Jordan McNair Foundation

In 2018, Jordan McNair, a Maryland football player and kinesiology major, tragically passed away. He will never be forgotten. Today, I announce a new partnership with the Jordan McNair Foundation to continue to honor his life and legacy on our campus.
