Vote!
Message from President Darryll J. Pines and Provost Jennifer King Rice
Dear fellow Terrapins,
As Election Day approaches on November 5, we have the opportunity to participate in one of our most important civic duties when we cast our vote for candidates and causes that we each support.
Many in our campus community will be voting for the first time, joining a powerful tradition of shaping the policies and leaders that will impact our future.
With early voting in Maryland ending tomorrow, October 31, it is important that you find information on your polling location and make a plan to vote, if you have not already done so. Our student body has continuously shown up at the polls, outpacing their peers with 84 percent of registered UMD students voting in the 2020 election. This year, let’s aim even higher.
Whether you choose to vote early or on Election Day between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., you can find resources to guide you through the process at our 2024 Election Hub. For mail-in ballots in Maryland, you can make an online request by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, November 1 to receive and print your ballot via email.
Terps, we encourage each of you to seize this moment, recognizing the power and privilege that comes with voting. At the same time, don't hesitate to prioritize your wellness and connect with UMD’s range of wellness resources, as world events can impact each one of us differently.
Remember that voting is your voice, and please join us in making a plan to vote today!
Sincerely,
Darryll J. Pines
