Units, Organizations, and Departments

LGBT Studies

The Undergraduate certificate program currently offers an undergraduate certificate, a 21-credit interdisciplinary course of study comprised of 15 required and 6 elective credits designed to complement the student's major field of study

Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Equity

Coordinates issues of equity for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender population on campus, assists with policy development and implementation, and provides educational programming efforts for LGBT members of the campus community. Provides information on and referral to campus and community resources for stduents, faculty and staff. The Office of LGBT Equity awards an annual scholarship fund to a student. Graduate Lambda Coalition

Provides a safe and supportive environment for LGBT graduate students and their allies with a focus on education, outreach, social activities, and work with other student organizations.

Pride Alliance

Provides a safe and supportive environment for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, and allied students within the University of Maryland at College Park community and to promote an accepting and supportive campus environment for persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities, through outreach, education, and work with other student organizations.

Office of Diversity and Inclusion

The Office houses Compliance which investigates cases of discrimination on campus. The Office also offers various programs for faculty, students, and staff including the Intergroup Dialogue program which routinely offers dialogues of interest to the LGBT community.

Legal Affairs Office

The Office of Legal Affairs was established in 1972 to provide direct, readily accessible, on-campus legal resources to University officials, faculty, and staff in the performance of their duties. It offers a full range of legal services and expertise, with concentration in areas of particular importance to a public research university. The professional and fiduciary responsibility of the Office of Legal Affairs is to the University and the President.

Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Staff and Faculty Association (College Park)

Serves the political and social needs of College Park LGB staff and faculty by advocating equal rights for LGB persons at College Park, supporting LGB student organizations, challenging instances of discrimination, and sponsoring and presenting speakers.
