About

Anne provides vision and leadership to bolster Maryland’s reputation as a public national and global university in research, academics, arts and athletics, with a commitment to embracing the diversity of our community. She works closely with the president and senior leadership to develop and deploy a communications and marketing enterprise that serves the needs of the university while supporting the colleges, schools, programs and units. As such, she oversees the Office of Marketing and Communications, which includes communications, marketing, editorial strategies, creative design and web services.

Anne previously was at the University of California San Diego, where she served as the university’s inaugural chief communications and marketing officer, uniting reputation, brand and messaging priorities across the university, the academic health system, athletics and advancement . She also launched UC San Diego’s first strategic communications plan.

Previously, Anne was the inaugural chief communications officer for the University of Alabama at Birmingham and led the public affairs operation at Virginia Commonwealth University. Before her career in higher education, Anne worked as a reporter and national news editor for the Associated Press.

She is a graduate of the University of New Mexico and earned an Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) in 2009.
