Salary Increase November 1, 2022

Dear colleagues,

I write to you with good news for our workforce, the people who power the University of Maryland.

Yesterday, Governor Larry Hogan announced all regular status state government employees, including UMD faculty and staff, will receive a 4.5% cost of living adjustment (COLA) increase, effective November 1, 2022.

Together with the University System of Maryland, we have been consistently advocating for merit and COLA increases for our employees, and this latest increase represents another significant investment in our people and community, a key pillar of the university's Strategic Plan, Fearlessly Forward. On behalf of our entire campus community, I'd like to thank Governor Hogan and the Maryland General Assembly for their continued support of our valued faculty and staff.

University Human Resources will distribute next week more specific guidance on the employment categories the COLA applies to and how this increase will be implemented across campus.

To all of you - the faculty and staff that make this university the special place it is - I want to say thank you. This will be the third COLA increase, in addition to two merit increases and one bonus, for faculty and staff in 2022. These investments serve as recognition of the tireless work that each of you do on behalf of the University of Maryland.

Sincerely,

Signature of President Darryll Pines
