President Pines on Parade
Wednesday, April 21 | 4-6 p.m.
President Pines will parade across campus in a customized inaugural van accompanied by the Mighty Sound of Maryland Marching Band and Testudo. Come meet President Pines, Mrs. Sylvia Pines, their children, Kalala and Donovan Pines, and Rocky the dog! Take a photo with UMD’s president, receive a presidential turtle pin and taste the newest Maryland Dairy ice cream flavor, TerraPines & Pralines, named in his honor. All are welcome!
Parade schedule
- 4-4:30 p.m. Nyumburu Cultural Center Amphitheater (Central Campus)
- 4:40-5:10 p.m. Prince Frederick Hall lawn (South Campus)
- 5:25-6 p.m. Eppley Recreation Center front plaza (North Campus)
TerraPines & Pralines is President Pines’ official flavor (Southern traditional Praline-coated Georgia pecans, hand-blended with a brown sugar swirl in a rich, small-batch Maryland sweet cream ice cream with a touch of real vanilla). Chocolate and a non-dairy sorbet will also be available.
After grabbing your ice cream, be sure to stop by the Student Government Association's table where they will be giving out reusable utensils and sharing all of their upcoming Earth Day celebrations. Learn more about the university's Earth Month events, such as the SGA's Earth Day Fest, which will include learning how to take care of common houseplants, a tiny house tour, yoga, a vegan cook-along and Netflix Teleparty!
